Carole Steele (Mrs. Kirby)

Carole is new to the Arena Fair family. I didn't know what to expect when she came to audition for the role of Olga Katrina. I had a specific idea of how I wanted Mrs. Kirby to feel and react, and no one else even came close. I closed auditions without having her read for the Grand Duchess. She came to me and asked if I had forgotten about her signing up for that other role, and I told her that I hadn't and that I didn't feel it would make any difference in my casting decisions. The truth is that I didn't want to see her read Olga Katrina and do it so brilliantly that it would leave me with a much harder decision to make. -Chris Crawford, Director
